affirm的基本意思是根據事實、本人經歷或對某事的確信而作出肯定的陳述,即“斷言”。

affirm作“斷言; 證實”解時多用作及物動詞,不用于進行時態,可直接接賓語,但多數情況下接that/wh-從句。affirm還可接“to be n./adj. ”充當賓語補足語。

- 2.affirm表示“肯定,斷言”,指堅信不疑因而斷言。例如:

- 3.assert表示“主張,斷言”,指宣稱某事如此,并不說它是事實,著重主觀自信心。例如:

- 4.claim表示“宣稱”,語氣比assert弱些。例如:
