endure的基本意思是“容忍,忍耐”,主要指對重大災禍和困難長時間地忍受,常強調默默地、無怨言地忍受,但不屈服,作此解時,常與cannot等否定詞連用,是比較委婉與正式的用法,接名詞或代詞作賓語,也可以跟動詞不定式、動名詞或that從句作賓語。
