probably的基本意思是“大概,可能”,指根據一些證據或邏輯推導而得出是可能的,但還沒有得到證明或證實,常譯為“大概”,含肯定成分較多。

probably主要修飾謂語動詞,在句子里如果有一個助動詞和一個主要動詞, probably應緊跟在助動詞之后; 如果有兩個以上助動詞, probably放在第一個助動詞之后。句子里如果沒有助動詞, probably通常放在動詞之前。如果主要動詞是be, probably應緊跟在be之后。probably有時還可放在句首。

probably在句中還可修飾名詞、副詞、介詞短語或連詞。

- 2.maybe比perhaps更口語化,且要用于句首; perhaps可用于句末、句中、句首; probably多用于句中。
- 3.maybe和possibly可用于禮貌的建議或請求,另三個詞無此義。例如:
