history主要指過去確實存在和發生過的具有重大意義或深遠影響的事件與人物的總和,即“歷史”也可指對“歷史”進行研究、剖析、總結的一門學科,即“歷史學”。當把對過去的事件作為整體看待時, history是不可數名詞; 當history指過去事件的系統敘述時是可數名詞,可加不定冠詞a,也可有復數形式。作“歷史學”解時前不加冠詞,特指學校的課程或考試的科目時首字母可大寫。
