-
afford的賓語可以是time(一般不省略),也可以是expense,還可以是time and money,但一般不單獨用money。
-
-
afford多用于疑問句或否定句,常與can, could, be able to等連用。
- afford, give, provide, supply
-
- Some trees afford resin.
- I should like to give him a chance.
- Now we supply power to nine-tenths of the city's homes.
- Our garden affords us fresh vegetables.
- More and more vegetables and fruit are supplied to the army.
- The programme aims to provide self-sufficiency for local needs.
- afford, give
-
- I should like to give him a chance.
- It afforded me an opportunity.
- afford, buy
-
- afford和buy都有“買”的意思,但afford側重“有無經濟能力買”,而buy則側重“購買的行為”,表示“我買不起”可以說I can't afford,但不可說I can't buy.
